Village life has its own beautiful, charms and attractions. Unlike city life, village life is calm and quiet, happy and healthy, normal and natural, pure and pious. It is free from hurry and worry, din and noise, stress and strain, sin and evil. Village people are simple and sincere, gentle and generous, religious and God-fearing. Lush green fields, gurgling rills and chirping birds present an enchanting view.
Villagers are honest and industrious. They work in their
field from dawn till dusk. They grow different kinds of crops to cater the need
of the people. They breathe in fresh and, pure atmosphere eat unmixed and unadulterated
food, drink pure and germ free water and milk. All these things keep them
active and smart. They live longer than urban people.
Village people have human nature. They are not selfish and
self- seeking. They share each other's joys and sorrows. They get gathered on
gay and grim occasions. This thing increases unity and amity among them.
Some people say that village life is dull and dark, tedious
and boring. They argue that villagers have no means of entertainment like
cinema-houses and clubs, parks and playgrounds, theatres and dramatic
societies, while urban people enjoy all these facilities, but it is an absurd
thinking. Villagers have many other things of their own interest; for instance,
they play Kabbadi, volley-ball and wrestling to remove their boredom and tediousness.
Moreover, fairs and marriages are their special occasions for rejoicing,
singing, dancing and merry making.
At nights, they sit together. There they discuss their
domestic problems, try to find out their solution, settle their disputes and
make plans for future. Moreover, they are tied by the strong bonds of love,
affection and fellow-feelings. But it is the bright side of the picture. Let us
see the dark aspects of village life.
Almost every big city has schools, colleges and
universities. City dwellers go to these educational institutions, get education
and expand the horizons of their knowledge. On the other hand, there are many
such villages in which there are no schools. So most of the villagers go
without education.
Then, village people are deprived of the basic facilities of
health and sanitation. They do not find any health center or hospital in their
locality. Heaps of garbage and dung-hill lie stinking here and there in
villages. Streets are narrow and unpaved. There is no drainage system and water
flows in the streets. On the other hand, urban people enjoy all these
facilities.
Villagers are devoid of the basic facilities of fax,
telephones post offices, police stations, mattled roads, utility stores and
shopping centers.
Villagers are superstitious. They believe in good and bad
luck. They are afraid of broken mirrors and black cats. Moreover, they always
live under the influence of lords and barons. They are forced to do anything / whatever they are told. On the other hand urban people lead an independent life. There
is no sway of any lord or feudal on their life.
In a nutshell, whatever the demerits of village life may be,
it is better than the urban life. It is free from corruption, pollution,
terrorism and other anti-social activities. Villagers are simple, sincere,
sympathetic, compassionate and hospitable.
